The District’s first major project is now complete.  Two 1 MW Photovoltaic Energy Systems, one on the Fremont Campus and one on the Newark Campus, have been installed to help the college offset yearly operational costs. The Fremont system is installed south of Pine Road and between the maintenance building and the tennis courts. This system is a ground mounted tracking system.  The tracking system allows the panels to rotate from east to west, following the sun for maximizing the collection of solar energy. The Newark system is also be a tracking system but is mounted over the existing parking lots at the back of the campus.  The completion of this project makes the Newark campus Net-Zero and the power from the two systems is offsetting about two-thirds of the power consumption at the Fremont campus.
